There is nothing quite like a good story. When Chris Stevens discovered that he could create one readers genuinely responded to, no one was more surprised than he was.

Chris has been drawing since he was a toddler, and his debut novel began as two or three pages of brainstorming for a graphic novel. The concept seemed promising, but he decided to write a chapter to help himself better understand the story’s opening and see where the idea might lead.

That single chapter quickly became two, then three, and continued growing from there. Before long, Chris realized that the story taking shape was much larger than the graphic novel he had originally imagined. More importantly, he discovered a sense of fulfillment every time he sat down to write More than five years, several stories, and countless hours of work later, that feeling has only grown stronger.

His bookshelves are filled with horror, suspense, crime, fantasy, and science fiction. Among his favorite authors are Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Gillian Flynn, Agatha Christie, and Joe Hill. King has perhaps had the greatest influence on his writing, beginning when Chris discovered a worn secondhand copy of Christine in middle school and found it nearly impossible to put down. That experience helped deepen his appreciation for stories that make the ordinary feel unsettling and transform familiar places into something unexpected.

Those qualities remain central to Chris’s own fiction. He is drawn to stories that begin in recognizable worlds, populated by ordinary people facing relatable struggles. Then something strange, disturbing, or inexplicable enters the picture, forcing those characters to confront the realization that life is not nearly as normal or as safe as they once believed. Through suspense, mystery, and touches of the supernatural, he explores what happens when everyday people are pushed beyond the boundaries of the familiar.

When Chris is not reading, writing, or working with numbers in his finance career, he is usually trying to keep up with his young son. He lives in a small corner of the Midwest, where he continues developing stories designed to surprise, unsettle, and captivate readers who enjoy finding something unusual lurking beneath the surface of ordinary life.
