Book Description
He found a way to travel through time. He didn’t expect to find murder waiting for him there.
When Dan Parker discovers a hidden room beneath Harrington House, he expects to find forgotten records, old furniture, and other relics of local history. Instead, he finds a strange brass device glowing with an unnatural purple light – a machine that should not exist, and one that appears to move through time itself.
What begins as curiosity slowly becomes a new life when he can’t return to the future. Dan finds himself living in the small Ohio town of New Chapel in the 1940s, working in a bookstore, making friends, and building a quiet existence far removed from the world he left behind. His friendship with Jack and Lucy is the anchor of his new life in a time that isn’t his own, and for the first time, the past begins to feel like home.
But the past isn’t as simple as he imagined when people begin to die, not from accidents or natural causes, but murders that didn’t happen in his timeline. As the deaths begin to connect in unsettling ways, Dan realizes that his presence in the past may be changing more than just his own life. The deeper he becomes involved with Lucy and the people around him, the more he is forced to confront a terrifying possibility: his presence in the past may be changing everything.
Caught between two eras and a growing series of murders, Dan must decide how far he is willing to go to protect the people he cares about, and whether he can understand the impact of these untimely deaths before it's too late.
PRAISE FOR THE NEW CHAPEL MYSTERIES

I enjoyed the clarity with which Dan’s curiosity is explored in this spellbinding story, the crisp prose, and the well-executed dialogue. The pacing is relentless as the glow of the time-travel machine fades and the body count increases. The sense of urgency, the suspense, and the intrigue in the plot transform this story into a page-turner.

This was a great storyline that promises a series I will enjoy. The writing is skilled and the MC a man who could easily be comfortable in any time period. It will be very interesting to see how book #2 will follow Dan.

Time travel is always an interesting plot to a story. I loved how it was a slow start that let you get that cozy small town setting while getting to know all the characters and really enjoyed jumping from different POV’s which allowed you to see the cracks behind the perfect picture setting that was originally shown. I ended up not being able to put the book down as I needed to know what would happen next!
