ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Award-winning author M.C. Ryder has been creating stories, poems, and song lyrics since childhood, when an early love of reading awakened her desire to write. Unable to find enough stories that felt meaningful or relatable to her, she began crafting the kinds of tales she wanted to read—stories that venture beyond predictable paths, explore emotional extremes, and offer unexpected twists.

Ryder achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a published author in October 2022. That milestone marked the beginning of a demanding but rewarding journey through the modern publishing world. She later chronicled those experiences in My Journey as an Author, an honest memoir about the triumphs, disappointments, lessons, and perseverance involved in building an author career and finding an audience.

Blending young adult urban fantasy, mystery, suspense, and supernatural drama, the series explores identity, destiny, betrayal, belonging, and the shifting boundary between love and hate. Ryder favors unconventional perspectives, layered symbolism, and characters who discover that neither they nor their worlds are as ordinary as they once believed. Wolves—her favorite animals since childhood—also reflect her interest in misunderstood creatures and outsiders searching for acceptance.

For Ryder, writing is both creative expression and a way to examine life’s difficult lessons. Inspiration can arrive through a song, an image, a quotation, an everyday experience, or a quiet moment in nature. She believes stories can entertain while also helping readers better understand themselves and others.

Ryder lives in Pennsylvania—the Keystone State—with a clowder of cats who confidently rule the household. Away from writing, she enjoys exploring trails, especially during the colors and cool air of autumn. She also appreciates music with deeply meaningful lyrics and reads widely across numerous genres.
